The new name reflects “a strategic evolution, uniting the brand under one clear and distinct identity,” according to a March 4 news release from the health system.
The new name honors the legacy of Donald Powers, who donated his own funds to help build the flagship Community Hospital in Munster. Mr. Powers was also one of the original directors and president of Community Foundation, which became Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana, the health system’s parent company.
