Chicago physician found guilty in $1.2M Medicare fraud case

A psychiatrist in the Chicago suburbs has been found guilty of defrauding Medicaid of more than $1.2 million, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Feb. 6.

William McMiller, MD, was found guilty of theft of government property by deception, theft of government property by unauthorized control and vendor fraud for submitting claims to Illinois’ Medicaid program for psychotherapy and medical services that he never provided to patients.

Dr. McMiller was the owner of Dr. Bill’s Learning Center, which offered tutoring services, clinical therapy and psychiatric services at its two locations in Chicago and Oak Park, Ill. He is facing up to 80 years in prison, the report said.
