The suit alleges that Dr. Aronowitz, along with his son Daniel Aronowitz, medical practices and a billing company falsified the place of service for skin grafts and billed multiple times for single-use skin substitute products, according to an April 28 news release from the Department of Justice.

Dr. Aronowitz and his practice Tower Multi-Specialty Medical Group also agreed to a voluntary expulsion from Medicare, Medicaid and all other federal health care programs for 15 years. His son will be excluded for three years.

The state of California will receive approximately $497,619 from the settlement for the portion of Medicaid claims it paid.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 18–20 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
