Alaska names state chief medical officer

The state of Alaska named Robert Lawrence, MD, its chief medical officer, Alaska Public Media reported May 3.

Dr. Lawrence, a family medicine physician, previously served as the chief medical officer for the state’s Department of Corrections, according to the publication. He succeeds Anne Zink, MD, who served in the position for five years. 

In his new role, Dr. Lawrence will provide clinical insight to state leaders and programs, APM reported.
