Fifty percent of respondents said they were very satisfied with their specialty or subspecialty while 33 percent said they were somewhat satisfied.

Only 13 percent report feeling not satisfied at all. About 78 percent of physicians said being a physician is everything they thought it would be always or some of the time, while 19 percent said they do not think it is.

More than half of respondents (55 percent) are practicing in their first choice of specialty while 30 percent are practicing their second choice specialty.

Additionally, 61 percent of respondents said they would choose the same medical specialty if they had it to do over again. About 11 percent would choose the same practice setting but a different specialty.
