Wisconsin health system CEO to step down

Susan Turney, MD, will be stepping down as CEO of Wisconsin-based Marshfield Clinic Health System. Dr. Turney was the health system's first CEO, taking on the role more than eight years ago in 2014.

Dr. Turney will continue to lead the system into the new year as it embarks on a proposed merger with Essentia Health. She will officially step down as CEO in September 2023, according to a Dec. 12 release from the health system.

Dr. Turney first came to Marshfield Clinic to complete her internal medicine residency before beginning her more than two decades of service in clinical and administrative roles with the health system.

Before stepping in as CEO at Marshfield Clinic, Dr. Turney served as president and CEO of Medical Group Management Association/American College of Medical Practice Executives. She has also been the CEO and executive vice president of the Wisconsin Medical Society.
