Medscape surveyed 2,182 medical students between April 7 and May 22 on issues such as medical debt, burnout and specialty choice.

- Lifestyle: 19 percent
- Career opportunities: 7 percent
- Research opportunities: 2 percent
- Income: 1 percent
- Prestige of field: 0 percent
- Other: 2 percent
