The survey, conducted in August 2022, received responses from 326 physicians and healthcare administrators.

Here's how physicians viewed the causes of burnout:

  1. Eight percent of physicians viewed burnout as totally caused by their current employer
  2. Thirty-two percent of physicians viewed burnout as caused more by their current employer than simply the nature of being a physician
  3. Fourteen percent of physicians viewed their current employer and the nature of being a physician as equal causes of burnout
  4. Thirty-two percent of physicians viewed burnout as caused more by the nature of being a physician
  5. Fourteen percent of physicians viewed burnout as totally caused by the nature of being a physician
