University of Maryland School of Medicine names dermatology leader

Shawn Kwatra, MD, has been appointed the next chair of the University of Maryland School of Medicine department of dermatology and chief of service of dermatology at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.

Dr. Kwatra joins the University of Maryland from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, also in Baltimore, where he served as the founding director of the Johns Hopkins Itch Center, according to a Sept. 18 news release.

In addition to his new roles, Dr. Kwatra will also hold the Joseph W. Burnett Endowed Professor and Chair in Dermatology. He will join the University of Maryland in early 2024.
