St. Louis physician receives national hospice award

Patrick White, MD, PhD, is the recipient of the 2023 Josefina B. Magno Distinguished Hospice Physician Award from the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Dr. White currently serves as director of the division of palliative medicine in the department of medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, according to a March 22 news release from the university.

The award is given annually at the Annual Assembly for Hospice & Palliative Care to a hospice physician who exemplifies dedication to the practice of palliative medicine in a hospice setting, the release said.

Dr. White is also the Stokes Family Endowed Chair of Palliative Medicine and Supportive Care in addition to serving as chief medical officer of St. Louis-based BJC Home Care and Hospice.
