Sound Physicians reveals leadership changes

Sound Physicians founder Robert Bessler, MD, has stepped down from his role as CEO to serve as a member of the organization’s board of directors.

Dr. Bessler has served as CEO for over two decades and will be succeeded by Jeff Alter, who most recently served as CEO of Summit Health. He has also served in leadership roles with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and UnitedHealthcare.

As CEO, Mr. Alter will oversee the medical group’s more than 4,000 providers across 400 hospitals throughout the country.
