Sanford Health Plan names physician CEO

Sanford Health Plan, the insurance arm of Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health, has appointed Tommy Ibrahim, MD, as its next president and CEO.

Dr. Ibrahim joins Sanford from Cooperstown, N.Y.-based Bassett Healthcare Network, where he served as CEO, according to a Jan. 16 news release. While there, he worked to establish an integrated care delivery system for rural and underserved populations.

As president and CEO, Dr. Ibrahim will be responsible for leading the health plan’s coverage of over 220,000 members.
