Riley Children’s Health appoints chief medical officer, chief physician executive

Indianapolis-based Riley Children’s Health has named Mara Nitu, MD, as chief medical officer and Elaine Cox, MD, as chief physician executive.

Dr. Nitu joined Riley Children’s Health in 2001 and has served as medical director of Pediatric Lifeline and the pediatric intensive care unit and chief of the division of pediatric care. She was also the division chair of clinical affairs for the department of pediatrics and associate CMO.

Dr. Cox has been with Riley Children’s since 1995, overseeing operations at Riley’s outpatient center for 16 years and assisting in the development of the Ryan White Center for Pediatric Infectious Disease and Global Health.

Dr. Cox has also served as patient safety officer and medical director of infection prevention, according to an email release shared with Becker’s Jan. 19.
