Penn State Health Children's taps Dr. Yatin Vyas as vice president and physician leader

Yatin Vyas, MD, has been selected as the new vice president and physician leader for Hershey, Pa.-based Penn State Health Children's Hospital. 

Dr. Vyas is currently pediatrician in chief for the hospital and the Children's Miracle Network. He is also the Four Diamonds Endowed Chair of the Department of Pediatrics for Penn State College of Medicine and Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, both located in Hershey, according to a March 23 news release.

In his new role, Dr. Vyas will oversee pediatrics for the entire Penn State Health system. 

Before joining Penn State Health in 2021, Dr. Vyas was the Mary Joy and Jerre Stead Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Iowa in Iowa City and directed the division of hematology/oncology. He also served the department as vice chair and leader of pediatric research for the Stead Family Children's Hospital, also in Iowa City, during this time. 

Additionally, Dr. Vyas was on the executive leadership advisory committee for the National Cancer Institute-designated Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa.

Prior to joining the University of Iowa, Dr. Vyas served as a faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
