Penn State College of Medicine appoints next dean

Karen Kim, MD, had been appointed dean of the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pa.

Dr. Kim joins Penn State from the University of Chicago, where she served as the Sara and Harold Lincoln Thompson Professor of Medicine and associate director of community outreach and engagement for the university’s Comprehensive Cancer Center, according to a May 31 news release.

Dr. Kim also served as founder and director of the Center for Asian Health Equity at the University of Chicago. As Penn State’s new dean, she will become the first Korean American woman to hold such a position nationally, the release said.
