Penn Medicine appoints pathology and laboratory medicine chair

Physician scientist George Jabboure Netto, MD, has been named chair of pathology and laboratory medicine chair at Penn Medicine in Philadelphia.

Dr. Netto will begin this position August 1, according to a March 28 news release. He joins Penn Medicine from the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine, where he served as the Robert and Ruth Anderson Endowed Chair of Pathology.

Dr. Netto currently serves as editor-in-chief of the Modern Pathology journal and associate editor for Advances in Anatomic and Molecular Pathology. He has authored six books on urologic pathology and specializes in genitourinary and molecular genetic pathology.
