Newark Beth Israel names Dr. Claudia Gidea medical director of heart transplant

Claudia Gidea, MD, has been appointed medical director of heart transplant, mechanical circulatory support and advanced heart failure at Newark (N.J.) Beth Israel Medical Center.

Dr. Gidea steps into the role with more than two decades of clinical and research experience, most recently serving as medical director of the heart transplant and LVAD program at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, according to a Jan. 3 news release from RWJBarnabas Health, of which Newark Beth Israel is a part.

She has also served as the medical director of the Cardiogenic Shock Program at the NYU School of Medicine in New York City and medical director of mechanical circulatory support at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
