Medscape surveyed 1,276 residents between March 24 and May 25. 

Here are medical residents’ biggest challenges:

  • Work and life balance: 31 percent
  • Dealing with the time pressures/demands on time: 20 percent
  • Fear of failure or making a serious mistake: 13 percent
  • Debt: 11 percent
  • Dealing with the stress: 9 percent
  • Developing the clinical skills required for the specialty: 8 percent
