Mass General physician named state commissioner of public health

Robert Goldstein, MD, PhD, has been appointed commissioner of the Massachusetts Public Health Department.

Dr. Goldstein currently serves as a senior policy advisor at the CDC, an infectious disease physician at Massachusetts General Hospital and as a professor at Harvard Medical School, both in Boston, according to an April 4 news release from the state’s health department.

Dr. Goldstein will step into the role April 18.
