Lee Health’s Heart Institute names chief physician executive

Malissa Wood, MD, has been appointed chief physician executive of the South Florida-based Lee Health Heart Institute, Lehigh Acres Citizen reported July 10.

Dr. Wood joins Lee Health from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where she served as co-director of the Corrigan Women’s Heart Health Program and as a staff physician in the cardiac ultrasound laboratory.

Dr. Wood was the recipient of the 2023 Wenger Award for Excellence in Medical Leadership for her work in women’s heart health. In her new role, she will oversee Lee Health’s cardiology service line across ambulatory and acute care settings.
