Former J&J, Novartis lead joins biopharmaceutical company

Biopharmaceutical company PaxMedica has appointed Stefan Schwabe, MD, as its chief medical officer.

Dr. Schwabe will oversee product development across various sciences, such as regulatory and pharmaceutical. 

He has 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry at companies including J&J, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, Sanofi and Ciba-Geigy. 

“We welcome Stefan to PaxMedica, and look forward to his contributions as chief medical officer,” Howard Weisman, PaxMedica’s CEO, said in an Oct. 24 press release. PaxMedica is entering an important phase as we work to advance our clinical programs and Stefan’s experience and expertise in neurology and drug development will help us build the critical evidence needed to ultimately seek regulatory approval for PAX-101.”
