Florida oncologist awarded for patient advocacy

Oncologist Richard McDonough, MD, is the recipient of the 2023 Dorothy Green Phillips Legacy Award from the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology.

Dr. McDonough was honored with the award due to his passion for cancer patient advocacy, according to an April 20 news release. He has held a variety of leadership positions within the society, including president from 2017 to 2019 and treasurer.

Dr. McDonough currently treats patients at Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute, which he first joined in 2022. He previously provided care to patients at Florida Medical Clinic in Zephyrhills and is currently a committee member of the Community Oncology Alliance.
