Florida health system hires chief medical officer

Sarasota, Fla.-based CAN Community Health, a healthcare system with clinics in six states, including Florida and South Carolina, added Steven Barnett, MD, as its chief medical officer.

Dr. Barnett joined CAN Community Health in 2017 at its Columbia, S.C., clinic, where he was later promoted to medical director of all clinics in South Carolina, Virginia and New Jersey, according to a Nov. 7 news release from the health system. 

Dr. Barnett has 20 years of experience in clinical management and will begin in his new position Jan. 1.
