Dr. Damani specializes in advanced robotic and foregut surgery, working in the field for over 15 years. She joined NYU in 2019 as the surgical director of NYU Langone’s Center for Esophageal Health, according to a Feb. 23 news release.
She currently serves as the section chief of esophageal and foregut surgery and recently launched the institution’s inaugural minimally invasive and robotic surgery fellowship.
At NYU, she also helped develop a complex hernia and abdominal core health program where specialists treat patient hernias, restore core health and improve patient quality of life.
Dr. Damani is also an advocate for women in surgery, giving talks around the country on mentorship, sponsorship, gender equity and work-life balance, according to a Feb. 23 press release.
