Dr. Richard Highbloom named chair of cardiothoracic surgery at Pennsylvania hospital

Richard Highbloom, MD, has been named the inaugural Martin and Dee Ann Woodall Endowed Chair in cardiothoracic surgery at Doylestown (Pa.) Hospital.

Dr. Highbloom is the first endowed chair in the almost century-long history of Doylestown Health. This is the first step in the health system’s plans to invest more in teaching and training, according to a Jan. 23 Doylestown Health news release shared with Becker’s.

Dr. Highbloom currently serves as chief and medical director of cardiothoracic surgery at Doylestown Hospital. He brings to the chair position more than 30 years of experience, including teaching as an assistant professor of surgery at Cooper University Medical School of Rowan University in Camden, N.J.
