Dr. Jaberi currently serves as the deputy director for medical services at Fairfax (Va.) County Health Department and previously served as deputy commissioner at the Virginia Department of Health. He will work between the Fairfax County Health Department and the state department for the next month, according to the publication.

The state health department’s COO, Christopher Lindsay, has been handling the role, though he is not a physician — a state code requirement.

Selection of a permanent candidate for the role has been delayed following lawmakers rejecting Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s selection of Colin Greene, MD, for concerns of staff treatment and views on structural racism.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 18–20 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
