Dr. Matthew Christiansen to lead West Virginia public health bureau

Matthew Christiansen, MD, was named the next state health officer and commissioner of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Bureau for Public Health.

Dr. Christiansen will transition from his previous role as director of the department’s drug control policy office, a position he held for two years, according to a Jan. 4 news release from West Virginia’s health and human resources department.

His appointment is effective immediately.
