Dr. Cohen, an internal medicine specialist, currently is an executive at Aledade, a private-sector firm focused on improving primary care, the Post reported June 1. In addition to previously serving as secretary for the North Carolina health department, she served as COO and chief of staff for CMS under the Obama administration.
Three anonymous sources familiar with the matter told the Post that HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra contacted Dr. Cohen to congratulate her ahead of the official announcement, which is expected to come from President Biden’s office later this month.
