Dr. Lynn Fitzgibbons named Santa Barbara County physician of the year

Lynn Fitzgibbons, MD, has been named the 2022 Santa Barbara County physician of the year by the Central Coast Medical Association. Dr. Fitzgibbons currently serves as program director of the internal medicine residency program at Santa Barbara (Calif.) Cottage Hospital and the medical director of the Cottage Center for Population Health.

After attending UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Fitzgibbons completed her residency at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. While there, she was also a clinician for Doctors Without Walls, a volunteer-based organization providing free medical care in the Santa Barbara area.

Dr. Fitzgibbons is also the infectious disease physician for the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she focused on education, clinical care and policy work for the health department.

She holds an adjunct professor position at UCSB, leading classes on drug epidemics and sexually transmitted diseases. Dr. Fitzgibbons also serves on the board for Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics and the Cottage Health Institutional Review.
