Elsie Taveras, MD, chief community health and health equity officer for Boston-based Mass General Brigham health system, has been appointed to the Boston Public Health Commission's Board of Health.

She was selected by Boston's Mayor Michelle Wu, according to a March 7 news release from Mass General Brigham.

"I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Taveras to the Board of Health, and look forward to working with her to protect, promote and preserve the health and well-being of our residents," Bisola Ojikutu, MD, commissioner of public health and executive director of the Boston Public Health Commission. "There are myriad public health issues in Boston unique to our children, and Dr. Taveras' expertise in pediatric health and health equity will be a tremendous asset to our work as we confront these challenges."
