Dr. Bruce Scott chosen as AMA president-elect

Bruce Scott, MD, an otolaryngologist from Kentucky, has been named president-elect of the American Medical Association.

He will serve as president-elect for a year before taking the role in June 2024, according to a June 9 press release from the AMA. 

Dr. Scott was voted into the role by physicians gathered at the 2023 annual meeting of the AMA House of Delegates. 

Dr. Scott has been a member of the house for over 25 years and was elected speaker of the house in 2019. 

He is a board-certified otolaryngologist and president at Louisville-based Kentuckiana Ear, Nose & Throat and medical director at Louisville-based Premier Ambulatory Surgery Center. 

He also holds a clinical appointment at the University of Louisville School of Medicine; is a board member for Health2047, the AMA's health technology funding initiative; has served as president of his state and county medical associations; and serves on the boards of the Greater Louisville Medical Society and the Kentucky Medical Association.
