Cornell School of Medicine names new dean

Robert Harrington, MD, has been appointed the Stephen and Suzanne Weiss Dean of Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City and provost for medical affairs of Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.

Dr. Harrington joins Cornell from Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif., where he has served as the Arthur L. Bloomfield Professor of Medicine and chair of the department of medicine since 2012, according to a June 1 news release.

A cardiologist, Dr. Harrington previously served as president of the American Heart Association for the 2019-2020 term and as director of the Duke Clinical Research Institute at Duke University in Durham, N.C.

He will begin his new position Sept. 12.
