A physician who previously served as concierge doctor for New York City Football Club will take ownership of a Fresno, Calif. concierge medical practice when its founders retire this summer, The Business Journal reported June 16.

Muhammad Anwar, MD, will assume leadership of Optimal Medical Group following the retirement of co-founders Juan Chavez, MD, and Lucia Mireles-Chavez, MD, at the end of July. Dr. Anwar is board-certified in internal medicine, obesity medicine and anti-aging and regenerative medicine and also served as inaugural medical director of student health at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

According to the publication, the Chavez couple said their search for a successor began nearly two years ago, with the transition timeline accelerated after they became confident in Dr. Anwar’s fit with the practice. Optimal Medical Group specializes in hormone optimization, longevity medicine and GLP-1-based weight management therapies.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
