California Northstate University names former Permanente Medical Group CEO dean

Richard Isaacs, MD, has been named dean of the California Northstate University School of Medicine in Elk Grove, according to a June 4 report from The Sacramento Bee.

Dr. Isaacs served as director and CEO of the Oakland, Calif.-based Permanente Medical Group for nearly six years. He previously served as physician-in-chief at Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento from 2005 to 2017 before becoming CEO.

Dr. Isaacs is an otolaryngologist and has taught as a professor of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at California Northstate since 2015, according to his LinkedIn page. He will continue to serve as a professor in addition to his new duties.
