Brown physician to help lead national preventive services task force

Michael Silverstein, MD, has been appointed vice chair of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force.

Dr. Silverstein serves as director of the Hassenfeld Child Health Innovation Institute at Brown University in Providence, R.I., according to a March 15 news release from the university. He is also a professor at the university’s School of Public Health.

In this role, Dr. Silverstein will help lead the task force’s experts as they provide recommendations on clinical preventive services, including screenings, counseling services and preventive medicine.

Dr. Silverstein previously served on the task force from 2016 to 2020.
