American Urological Association selects Dr. Mark Edney as public policy chair

Mark Edney, MD, has been selected as the next public policy chair by the American Urological Association. He will begin serving as chair-elect June 1 and start his official four-year term June 1, 2024.

Dr. Edney serves as chair of the AUA’s State Advocacy Committee, editor for the Business of Urology section of the Urology Practice Journal and a senior physician at Chesapeake Urology Associates locations in Maryland and Delaware, according to a Jan. 12 release.

Dr. Edney previously served in the U.S. Army Reserve medical corps and was chief of surgery at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. He was also a member of AUA’s legislative affairs committee.

In his new role, Dr. Edney will oversee the AUA public policy council and the association’s committees on state advocacy, legislative affairs, research appropriations and coding and reimbursement.
