American Osteopathic Association names next president

Ira Monka, DO, has been named the 127th president of the American Osteopathic Association.

Dr. Monka has treated patients as an osteopathic board-certified family physician with the Atlantic Health System in New Jersey for almost four decades, according to a July 27 news release. He was inaugurated as AOA president during its annual House of Delegates meeting July 22.

As president, Dr. Monka will oversee over 178,000 osteopathic physicians and medical students, the release said.
