The American Medical Association has launched a new initiative to support physician-led projects focused on improving community health.
According to a Nov. 13 news release shared with Becker’s, the Community Health Impact Lab Micro Grants Program will award $50,000 grants to 20 physician-led projects that address urgent health challenges in areas with limited access to care. This may include projects that focus on food insecurity, maternal health, caregiving support or other local health needs identified by physicians working within their communities.
Eligible projects must include a clear community health challenge affecting patient populations. They should also demonstrate feasibility, measurable outcomes within the 12-month grant period and potential to be adapted for use in other communities.
Applications opened Nov. 13 and will close March 1, 2026. Grant recipients will be announced by April 30, 2026.
