9 physician leader shake-ups in August

Here are nine physicians who have taken on or stepped down from top leadership roles reported by Becker’s since Aug. 1:

1. Marcel van den Brink, MD, PhD, was appointed president of City of Hope Los Angeles and National Medical Center.

2. The Kentucky Medical Association installed Michael Kuduk, MD, as the organization’s 173rd president during an annual meeting.

3. Anthony Hatcher, DO, was named CEO of Hillcrest Health Services, a healthcare provider for aging adults based in Bellevue, Neb.

4. David Zaas, MD, was appointed president of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem, N.C.

5. Boris Pasche, MD, PhD, was appointed president and CEO of Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit.

6. Richard Vath, MD, president and CEO of Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System, plans to retire in June 2024.

7. The National Institutes of Health named Jeanne Marrazzo, MD, as director of its National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. 

8. Mark Keroack, MD, plans to retire as CEO of Springfield, Mass.-based Baystate Health in July.

9. Darrell Gray, MD, was named president of Wellpoint Maryland, the leading coordinator of Medicaid managed healthcare benefits in the state and a subsidiary of Elevance Health.
