8 CMO moves in May

Here are eight chief medical officer appointments during the month of May, as reported by Becker’s:

1. Jesse Sulzer, MD, PhD, was named chief medical officer of Holston Valley Medical Center and Indian Path Community Hospital.

2. Jamie Bartley, DO, was appointed chief medical officer of Russell County Hospital and Smyth County Community Hospital in Virginia.

3. Kavita Babu, MD, was appointed chief medical officer and vice president of medical affairs for Gardner, Mass.-based Heywood Healthcare.

4. Sameer Gupta, MD, was appointed executive vice president and chief medical officer for Children’s Minnesota.

5. Joseph Reuben, MD, was named chief medical officer for Overland Park (Kan.) Regional Medical Center.

6. Sean Townsend, MD, was named chief medical officer of Providence’s Sonoma County, Calif., service area.

7. Gary Purushotham was named CEO of MemorialCare Long Beach (Calif.) Medical Center, and Sapna Mehta, DO, was named chief medical officer. They will lead in a dyad leadership model.  

8. Denise Sutler, MD, was named chief medical officer of Houston-based The Women’s Hospital of Texas.
