Here are the two hospitals:
1. Port Arthur-based Medical Center of Southeast Texas, an affiliate of Dallas-based Steward Health Care, closed its campus in Beaumont on Feb. 2.
The closure includes its emergency department and all hospital-related services, which will be relocated to the center’s Port Arthur campus.
2. West Lake Hills, Texas-based The Hospital at Westlake closed its emergency department in December, months after filing for bankruptcy.
The hospital filed for bankruptcy in an effort to manage debt that existed before the COVID-19 pandemic but has since been exacerbated by inflation, rising costs of labor, supplies and drugs and labor shortages.
