Cambridge, Mass.-based Arches Massachusetts and Valley Medical Group entered a partnership aimed to strengthen independent primary care and expand value-based care capabilities, according to a Dec. 19 press release.

Under the partnership, Valley Medical’s clinicians will retain full ownership and clinical autonomy while gaining access to Arches’ contracting platform, analytics tools, care management infrastructure and operational support.

Arches is a physician-owned and physician-led ACO model operating across both commercial and government risk programs. Valley Medical is its first anchor practice, and the organization received approval to join the Medicare Shared Savings Program effective Jan. 1.

The Arches model supports independent primary care by reinvesting shared savings into primary care infrastructure and reducing unnecessary high-cost services.
