How employed physicians feel about their autonomy

Twenty-two percent of employed physicians are unsatisfied or very unsatisfied with their autonomy at work, according to Medscape’s Employed Physicians Report 2025, published Oct. 31.

The report is based on a survey of 823 employed physicians conducted between March 19 and June 3.

Here’s how employed physicians feel about their autonomy at work:

  • Very satisfied: 13%
  • Satisfied: 40%
  • Neutral: 26%
  • Unsatisfied: 16%
  • Very unsatisfied: 6%
