  1. Don’t overthink operating a private practice.
  2. Connect with a mentor who has experience in private practice to gather insight.
  3. Get comfortable asking for help and designating tasks to others who might be more knowledgeable about certain aspects of running a private practice, like accountants and lawyers.
  4. Pay attention to the terms of your contract, including noncompete clauses, and don’t be afraid to leave a job that isn’t working out for you.
