Here are three physician-owned hospitals and practices that have closed their doors or cut services since August:

1. West Lake Hills, Texas-based The Hospital at Westlake closed its emergency department in December, months after filing for bankruptcy.

2. Independent OB-GYN practice San Dimas Medical Group in Bakersfield, Calif., closed Sept. 12.

3. In August, the Belmont Eye Clinic in Liberty Township, Ohio, closed after operating for more than 50 years.
