AMGA Consulting director Elizabeth Siemsen attributes this increase in compensation to E/M coding changes put into effect by CMS in 2021, which are now being reflected in organizations’ compensation plans.

This increase in primary care pay is coupled with a 2.9 percent increase in median wRVUs compared to the prior year. Primary care physician wRVUs account for the bulk of this number, with a 4 percent increase, according to the report.
