1. A judge has ruled that Commonwealth Health’s physician group, Commonwealth Physician Network, cannot prevent its former surgeon from working locally for Geisinger.

2. Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont signed into law an act that amends the state’s noncompete law for physicians and adds restrictions. Now, physician noncompete agreements entered into or amended on or after July 1, 2016, may last no longer than a year or extend beyond a 15-mile radius from the physician’s primary site of practice.

3. The New York State Legislature passed a bill aiming to stop employers from entering into noncompete agreements with their employees

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
