Female physician pay by practice setting

Female physicians in an office-based single-specialty group practice are paid more than female physicians in any other practice setting, according to Medscape’s 2022 “Female Physician Compensation Report.”

Medscape surveyed physicians from Oct. 5, 2021 through Jan. 19, 2022 on their compensation and other metrics. 

Here’s how female physicians are paid by practice setting:

  • Office-based single-specialty group practice: $304,000
  • Office-based solo practice: $303,000
  • Healthcare organization: $284,000
  • Hospital: $282,000
  • Office-based multispecialty group practice: $277,000
  • Academic, research, military, government: $273,000
  • Outpatient clinic: $241,000
  • Other: $273,000
