8 legislative, regulatory moves physicians should know

1. The American College of Rheumatology backed the introduction of the Strengthening Medicare for Patients and Providers Act.
2. The American Academy of Family Physicians called upon the Federal Trade Commission to adjust and finalize a proposed rule that would ban noncompete clauses in employment contracts.
3. Indiana state legislators have passed a weakened physician noncompete bill, which bans new noncompete agreements for primary care physicians but allows other physicians to be subject to noncompetes.
4. Alabama legislators introduced legislation to address physician shortages in the state.
5. A new federal law updated Stark Law and anti-kickback statute exceptions for physician wellness programs.
6. President Joe Biden signed legislation to end the national emergency related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
7. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, finalized a rule that aims to strengthen Medicare Advantage, lower prescription drug costs and protect senior patients and those with disabilities.
