Providence Health Plan names chief medical officer

Providence Health Plan, the insurance division of Renton, Wash.-based Providence, appointed Laurel Soot, MD, chief medical officer.

Dr. Soot, a general surgeon, has more than 30 years of experience with the health system and served as Providence Health Pan’s interim chief medical officer since November, according to a Jan. 16 news release. She has 15 years of experience educating medical students and previously served as Providence’s medical director of breast health.

Dr. Soot stepped into the role Jan. 14.
